Darn those random and completely non-human-caused solar flares.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

About 115 here...can barely go outside to smoke, which is probably a good thing. I hate the desert.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

106? I live in Vegas. What is there a cold front moving through your area?

In related news, although NV would be the #1 place so solar energy along with wind, John Ensign still likes to fight it. Man I wish someone would ACTUALLY challenge him in an election once in a while.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

Jack Carter, President Carter's son, did a helluva job last time. I interviewed him three times at Political Interviews . he was articulate and ready to campaign in area's that hadn't seen a Democratic in years.

I also helped set up more than one teleconference for nationwide fundraisers. Personally, I think he ran a solid, innovative campaign even if he didn't have the full support financial of Nevada Democrats.

Ensign is hard to unseat. It will take a fully funded high-dollar campaign, with a huge amount of media,  to get him out.

Yes, and the only thing was he was pretty boring, did awful in the debate, and had no money. He wasn't a REAL challenge even if he would've been a good senator.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

65 and a bit humid. Oh shit, WTF is Israel doing. I just turned on CNN and they are showing that Israel is doing training flights over Iran.

Yeah, I guess they figure they might as well attack now before Bush leaves office.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

This massively fucked up. We cannot go to war with Iran.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

This show of display was probably just an effort to "warn Iran" and show what Israel's military could do...but I wouldn't be surprised if Israel ends up attacking Iran by the time the year ends anyway. Then Iran, which may or may not have nukes, could then make a case that the nuclear weapon program they "don't have now" (whether they do or not, who knows) they now need to defend themselves.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

Sorry, didn't mean "which may or may not have nukes", I meant "may or may not be trying to start a nuclear weapons program". Same thing. :)

Ha.  It's winter here in Australia, been cutting firewood all day.  Had to build a fire this morning which is very unusual.

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 1)

There is an Australian adage that when hosting a barbecue, a knock on the door should never be answered as it means the guest isn't carrying the required case of beer. (One should only answer a kick on the door.)

Doesn't sound much different than here. Even the chainsaw is so familiar. Northern Minnesota. Oh no palm trees around the lakes.

Looks like a Casuarina.  They grow along the beach here.  The palms are mostly in the rainforest, in the hinterland.

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 1)

Historically, isn't the month that the primaries end a slow month?  I'm not terribly concerned because, if they were in trouble, they would have opted into public financing.  Clearly they believe that they can make up the difference, and I'll do everything I can to help them accomplish that goal.

Re: Ohio (2.00 / 1)

Over at Yahoo News there's an article on the Governor's dinner in Chicago yesterday.  In the article Gov. Strickland comes out in full force to state that Ohio will go for Obama.  Gov. Sebilius of  Kansas also reinforces Gov. Strickland's view.

Obama and McCain's websites... (2.00 / 1)

Cubs beat the Sox TWICE... Big win today, come from behind yesterday.  100 years of futility will end this year.

Cubs World Series and a Democratic President.  It will be a good end of the year.
